Being a mother of 31, is never boring!

Just yesterday, we went to Grace Gardens to pray for a young girl who we were about to send back to her parents. We rescued her (by rescue, I mean we literally snuck her out!) from a brothel where she was being held against her will. It took some work to find her parents, but we did, and they are happy to have her arriving home tonight. While at the house, I realized two ladies were missing. They had gone out to buy glue and hadn't returned in more than an hour. So, John and I went out to look for them and John spotted them walking out of a bar with men. John jumped out of the car and went up to the men and with the angriest father face he could muster, he said, "Who are you and what right do you have taking my daughters out without my permission!"The men were visibly scared, said they were sorry and basically ran for their lives. John then told the girls to get in the car. I then spent the next hour talking to them about how precious they are and how a man should show up and treat them with respect, not sneak around to see them. Then I got back to the house to find another one of our ladies who is 34 weeks pregnant crying in pain saying she going to give birth. After talking to other ladies, I found that she had been over dosing on medicine and taking herbs to try to abort her baby. So we are now having to watch her around the clock to make sure she does not hurt herself or her baby. This morning, I went to the prison and listened to 9 women share about what God is doing in their lives in the prison and I got to praise God with them for their incarceration and cry with them over their burdens for their families at home. I then took a good missionary friend who speaks fulfule to the house to speak to our pregnant woman in her own dialect about God's love for her and for her unborn baby. Then this afternoon I got to celebrate Pirfar's 9th birthday with him by taking him out to lunch! As I sit here and think about all the craziness that is my life, I am amazed that I get to be a part of all of this. All of the people at Grace Gardens call me Mommy and John Daddy. At first, I thought that was really strange, but I have come to love it. My Grace Gardens children drive me crazy, but I love each and everyone of them. We are a dysfunctional family for sure, but through our brokenness, God shows up!
